The cast remains the same from the earlier anime, but the staff has change. Hiroyuki Hata (Kamichu!, Recently, my sister is unusual.) replaces Masahiko Ohta as director. Michiko Yokote (Red Data Girl, Squid Girl) handles the scripts, and Motohiro Taniguchi ( To Love-Ru -Trouble- Darkness, Recently, my sister is unusual. animation director) replaces character designer Chiaki Nakajima and serves as chief animation director. The project is being animated at TYO Animation (Tamayura - Hitotose) instead of Dogakobo. The Yuruyuri anime adapts Namoris manga about four fun-loving schoolgirls who take over the former room of a tea ceremony club for their own Gorakubu (amusement club). The first anime series premiered in Japan in July 2011, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired. The 12-episode sequel series Yuruyuri♪♪ aired in 2012, and Crunchyroll also streamed that series as it aired. JManga and ALC Publishing released part of the original manga digitally in English before JManga shut down last year. NISA has licensed and released both seasons in North America.
