ZAKAT AND SADAQA TRUST FUND OF GHANA The Muslim Caucus of Parliament of Ghana in collabration with His Eminence, the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharutu and National Imams of the various Islamic sects in Ghana on 6th September 2010 at the State-House to enable Muslim working in the Public and Private sectors of Ghana observe the 3rd pillar of Islam in fulfilment of their faith in Allah. We therefore wish to invite all Muslims, especially, Ghanaian Muslims to join the Fund. Subscribers to the Fund are expected to pay 2.5% of their annual income into the Fund. The amount involve could be divided into 12 months to enable subscribers pay without feeling much burden only persons with minimum basic salary about Ghc 1,178 (Nisb) and above are qualified to pay Zakat. A person may choose to pledge a specific amount to be deducted as Sadaqa if the person does not meet the minimum requirement of the Nisab. The Fund is dedicated for providing of scholarship for eduactional and vocational/ technical skills as well as general poverty alleviation and health assistance for the poor and the needy in the Muslim communities. Quran 64:17 if you lend Allah a goodly loan ( I.e . Spending in Allahs Cause), He will double it for you and will forgive you. And Allah is most ready to appreciate and to reward, most forbearing. Provide foe urgent needs of orphans and depressed in Muslim communities Support the propagation of Islam. SOURCE OF FUNDING Obligatory Zakat and optional Sadaqa from formal and informal sector of Muslim working in Ghana and beyond as well donations from legitimate business organization and NGOs. Self-employed and workers in the private sector can activate their contribution by Standing order of the various Banks while civil and public servants can pay through Controller and Accountant Generals Department with your Staff Number. NIGHT OF POWER Annual program organized by the fund managers to disseminate information to stakeholders about theoperation of the Fund. All you need to know about the Fund is communicated.
