Zesco United has denied a deal with French club Sochaux for midfielder Kondwani Mtonga. Media reports from France have indicated that the 27-year-old midfielder is on his way to the struggling French Ligue 1 club during the January transfer window. Zesco chief executive officer Justin Mumba told MTNFootball that his club had received no official offer for Kondwani from Sochaux. The 27-year-old defensive midfielder made his Zambia debut in a friendly against Zimbabwe in April this year on his way earning 15 caps. Kondwanis major claim to fame came during the 2014 FIFA World Cup Group D qualifiers in June when he served with some distinction as a converted central defender under ex-coach Herve Renard in place of the injured Stopilla Sunzu against Lesotho and Sudan. Sochaux are currently coached by Renard who joined the team in October on a deal until the end of the 2013/2014 season. The club already has one Zambian on their books in striker Emmanuel Mayuka who is on loan at the bottom placed club from English side Southampton until the end of the 2013/2014 season.
