Zimbabwe update from a known source : 1. The banks in Zim are heading into BIG trouble. Allegedly a regt. bank should keep approx 30% of its deposited holdings in available cash in case depositors wish to withdraw rapidly. I hear on good authority Zim banks are down to 10%. 2. I know that ZANU goon Govt. are struggling to pay civil servants wages (Military will be next?) 3. Basically all lines of credit to Zim Govt and Zim businesses are now closed. 4. Word is out that banks are in serious trouble and there is a very real possibility that there will be a run on the banks. If that happens they will have to close their doors and the Zw banking system will implode. 5. As a result ZANU seriously discussing bringing back Zim Dollar. This then allows them to supposedly print ad infinitum (in their great economic tradition) and they will be able to theoretically continue to pay salaries. Dr. Gideon Gono style hyperinflation will return immediately ! The scary bit is.....its said that one will go to sleep with US$ in the bank and wake up with literally worthless Z$ exchanged at one for one (at that moment in time). 6. The forthcoming Maize crop to be planted now is going to be a complete disaster, because virtually no one can obtain credit and little cash is available for seed and fertilizer. 7. Zambia has decided to break its promise of providing FOC - free of charge some 18,000 tons of maize. Zim did not pay for last years purchases. Now Zam says they must pay. Zanu Pf - Zw do not have the hard currency money. 8. It is alleged that they are sitting on a barrel load of diamonds ! However the world market is only so big in this recessionary period, and they have been pumping in cheap diamonds into the market for years. Allegedly it is now saturated. They cannot move stock pile. Also it is said that alluvial diamonds are starting to dry up, they have raped the place dry. 9. It is confirmed 100% (A/1) ZANU making very discreet approaches to former commercial ex farmers (whose land was taken away by the government) to go back onto the land.... in a desperate bid to try and get some food grown inside the country. As yet I do not know the reaction, but surely things must be bad for these radical extremists to even do this!!! This is 100% true. 10. The only thing keeping the balance of payments somewhat vaguely decent, is the exile population(Diaspora) sending their money home to their kin. 11. It is alleged that by Dec. 4 million people will desperately need food aid. This a large big % of the remaining population. 12. Mealie meal (std diet) is already in short supply.... in the few remaining retailers. 13. Talk of asset stripping in closed mines/railways/businesses to sell for scrap iron to try and raise hard cash. 14. Large numbers of refugees pouring out across borders, mainly to SA, much to the consternation of SA Govt 15. Talk that Saviour Kasakuwere (honourableminister) has his eyes on the Rhino population for their horns and is making inquiries as to how best to “exploit” same. The bottom line is that ZANU stole the election Taxi ..... only to discover to their utter dismay / find it has no brakes and steering wheel is also missing! So it is now running down hill at an ever increasing speed. I am aware that the Diaspora groups (via their jungle drums) in this part of the world have already been advised of the above and are making moves to tell ALL of their families.... to get their US$ out of the banks ASAP before the final crunch comes. Through their networks they are advising all and sundry here and across the globe. Give this info some thought and pass on the good word, especially to any contacts you have internally, but the more the merrier to get the word out. Thanks in anticipation of your assistance.
