Zubrin is correct about terraforming. Except factories emitting super greenhouse gasses are not required. And its idiotic, the idea of redirecting meteorites to impact upon Mars to bring Ice. The planet is COLD, not dead. There is plenty of ice on Deimos, as it is equivalent to a C or D-class asteroid. Smash it into the planet...WATER and organic-rich silicates, carbon and anhydrous silicates are present! Be sure to re-start the core, first. Otherwise the water would simply fracture, vaporize on impact or drift out of the atmosphere over time. Mass of Phobos deemed too high for impact, post-colonization. (aka, not recommended by the Goddess. Intuition also warns impact could rupture crustal plates, if performed prior to full implementation of terraforming protocol. 70% probability of similar outcome, post-completion of terraforming protocol.) An active AreoMagnetic field will tend to herd the uppermost layers of atmosphere down, down down toward the surface, compressing the atmosphere. As volcanic and surface emissions continue, this thickens the atmosphere, further enhancing the greenhouse effect. With addition of Methane and CO2 eating organisms, capable of survival at increased temperature and pressure, which emit Oxygen as a by-product, in addition to H2O (water) transpiration, the atmosphere goes from red-blue to sky blue...as on Earth. Estimated optimal pressure is: 50.6625 - 60.795 kPa with >12% O2 content Estimated optimal gravity, after core stabilization over 30 - 150 year terraform period: 0.5 - 0.6 Earth Gravity (4.89 - 5.868 m/sec/sec) (Zubrins methods would require 600 years before terraforming is completed. Also, continuous super greenhouse gas emissions would be required, as well as conversion of same to breathable atmosphere, to maintain pressure which continues to escape without creation of AreoMagnetic field.)
