Zulu started advocacy work years ago in secondary school. She got awards for innovation at different times. She is determined to do something with her life. So she told me one morning. She decided to continue with this by doing a public presentation of one group that she has set up called TEENS FOR CHANGE (T4C). The slogan is changing the world one TEEN at a time! Ok! Some of her friends are working with her to make a change. It will be annual. She decided to do this before she starts university in January, 2015. This year, the theme is 1 Wash= many lives saved) The focus is not just on the Ebola scourge as she insists that it is mainly on hygiene. The whole idea is to help raise awareness about good hygiene habits and who better to speak to the younger children than teenagers themselves? So, she wrote story called, A NOT SO WISHY-WASHY STORY which is quite interesting. It is about a clean kingdom that ran out of soap! I have played a miniscule role as you may not imagine- teenagers have more than a mind of their own. She wrote the story from scratch one night. She has been responsible for writing her proposals. Here she is painting, brushing on her logo this morning. She was tired of waiting for an uncle-artist to do one that he had promised. I like the logo. TEENS FOR CHANGE is set up to keep all on their toes and fingers! It will be launched in public on the 20th of November here in Lagos. The whole idea is to raise awareness and give out the T4C kit to children in rural Delta state primarily. She also wishes to send something to Sierra Leone. In this kit will be sanitizers, soap, the storybook, a poster. T4C received her pledge of cartons of Empress hand sanitizer. Sponsorship is needed but whether we get this or not, we trust God for this kick-start! You may wish to support by providing these sanitizers or donating towards the event and printing. Do pray along with us too. Do let us know if you know any brands that may support too. Someone has provided a venue free of charge. Do note that we will do a short list of all such except when this is not approved. Do support this noble cause. On that day, there will be drama, song and dance by different schools drawn from the theme. They will win prizes. Do inbox for any details or email, teens for change@yahoo. We would love you to attend and encourage this work. It will turn out well in Jesus name. Thank you.
