Zvemu magitare part:3 EMPIRE BUILDING Ok,so since payment &security issues are a problem in the music industry,one thing you have to be aware of is whether you are working for a band,or a church organisation,all we are doing is helping someone build their own personal empire,hameno kumwe,but in Zim if you are not careful you are treated just like one of the assets. Its ok for me to be helping someone build their big empire as long as im paid my little dues to be able to feed my family&maybe start my own little empire of my own.so my point is dont relax&call it our project when its not yours One time i was working 4a band,we had a number of complaints,when we finally pinned the band leader down for a meeting the first statement he told us wasOne thing you have to know is that this is my music,this is my band....It sounded harsh,but i thanked God bcoz of what i was hearing,all along during practice sessions he would refer to the music asour music&we all felt a sense of belonging&everybody felt like they owned the band,we felt secure.But after he said that statement i realised we were just helping him build his personal empire,period,since life is too short for experiments,i had to evaluate if i was not wasting my time enriching someones empire&getting nothing in return,then get fired aneta neni.was i helping someone who can just wake up any day&decide he dosent want to see me anymore&fire me madiro Some may wonder why i included churches,yes 99.9% of our modern day churches are personal empires of the church founder&his family too,thats why some of the ministry names bear the name of the founder,thats why when he dies the one who takes over is from his emmidiate family,no questions asked,&obviously all church founders of big churches are filthy rich,nothing wrong with that,but u need to ask yoself kuti as the big man is building his empire for himself&his family,are you paid enough to stop your family from suffering&also creating a future for your kids. I worked in different churches for 6years as a fulltime church musician&discovered that Zim churches are the worst pay masters,they twist bible verses to underpay you whilst the founder&his inner circle live like they are in heaven,&then convince you that you have to live by faith,your pay comes from the lord,not from us,for some time i tried it like they said,it didnt work out,&everybody i knew who were in the same scenario were living miserably too,things changed 4the better when i quit So as a musician,put your house in order,be proffesional but also be careful to also build your own little empire as you help the big guys build theirs,you only live once&life is too short for experiments
