He is part of the Chevrolet family, the Hendrick family and I feel fortunate that he is now part of our family. Addington in his 10 year career as a crew chief in the Sprint Cup Series has 20 wins, 66 top 5s, and 105 top-10 finishes, and he has worked with some of the biggest names that the Cup Series has to offer. In 2008, Addington guided Kyle Busch to eight victories that included a stretch of seven wins in 14 races that season at varied tracks such as Darlington, Daytona, and Dover. During the 2010 and 2011 seasons, Addington worked with 2004 Cup Series champion Kurt Busch and the duo would win four races together most notably the 2010 All Star Race at Charlotte. Most recently Addington was on top of the pit box for three-time champion Tony Stewart. I am thrilled to be part of the Phoenix Racing team and working with Harry, said Addington. Harry has a vision to make this team a championship contender and I am excited to be part of it. While a driver has yet to be announced for Phoenix Racing in 2014 it is widely believed that Justin Allgaier will be tabbed for that seat with Brandt coming on as the primary sponsor. Allgaier made four starts behind the wheel of the No. 51 Chevrolet this season and posted a best finish of 24th at Talladega. Battle at the Beach to Return at Daytona The UNOH Battle at the Beach short track event, held at the world famous Daytona International Speedway for the first time this past season, will return to the historic 2.5-mile oval as part of Budweiser Speedweeks 2014 on Tuesday, February 18th. The action-packed day of racing will include practice,qualifying, and two 150 lap events featuring the K&N Pro Series East and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. For the K&N Pro Series East, their 150 lap event will serve as a championship points event, while it will be a non points events for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. “The UNOH Battle At The Beach is a great opportunity for short track racers from around the country to compete on racing’s biggest stage,” Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood, III said. “We’re looking forward to some intense competition with two exciting main events.” In last years inaugural Battle, Cameron Hayley won the K&N Pro Series race while Cup Series veteran Steve Park would score his first Daytona win in the Whelen Modified race. JRM and Pinnacle Foods Reach Sponsorship Agreement JR Motorsports announced on Thursday Morning a new addition to their sponsor lineup for the 2014 Nationwide Series season. Pinnacle Foods Armour brand will be the primary sponsor for Kevin Harvick and the No. 5 JR Motorsports Chevrolet in three Nationwide Series races in 2014. It will also serve as an associate sponsor for Harvick and the No. 5 for the entire 33-race Nationwide schedule. JRM announced last month the addition of Harvick to its 2014 driver lineup. Harvick, a two-time Nationwide Series champion and winner of 40 Nationwide Series races is expected to compete in at least 12 events for the organization in 2014. “The way this has come together is very exciting for us,” said Kelley Earnhardt Miller, general manager of JR Motorsports. “When we announced that Kevin will be driving for us in 2014, the response from the fans was truly awesome. He carries an immense competitive energy on the track, and as Pinnacle Foods knows he performs in the marketplace as well. I dont have any hard feelings or anything like that, I just dont have a real good idea of why the decision was made. Addington knew the performance of the #14 team was not up to par in the early part of the season in fact, all three teams at SHR struggled early but believed the team had turned a corner before Tony Stewarts season-ending Aug. 5 injury in a sprint car crash. It was an option year, and after the accident, I figured wed go on one more year, Addington said. Its no secret we had our issues early in the season, but after Charlotte, the 600, we really turned things around. We won at Dover, and other than Sonoma, where we were running top-five before a spin, and Kentucky, where we did struggle, wed really turned it around. Then came the accident, and we just dont know what could have come from the rest of the season. So I really dont know what happened there. Now hell likely be paired with Justin Allgaier at Phoenix Racing.
