ancestry Christa Cowan: We have a strict privacy policy regarding posting any information about living people on the Ancestry Facebook group and other community channels. Posting names and genetic information about your matches falls into that category. I am going to have to delete your latest post. Just wanted to give you a heads up before I did it. this was my response: it is not just a few people. If you think so, youre in denial. Many people are upset with AncestryDNA changes including especially African Americans. People that are advocates in regards to certain issues are those that tend to have gone through those issues themselves. Its empathy through personal experience that motivates. thats why a black man led the the civil rights movement Ancestry people refuse to provide a chromosome browser and any type of segment information to help people sort out their matches. They expect us to rely only on Family Trees (many of them inaccurate) to find our connections to our matches. Many of us dont know all our ancestors back to the mid 1800s. This goes especially for adoptees, estranged family members, and African Americans. My post was to show how important a chromosome browser and segment information are. Gedmatch is a wonderful asset. AncestryDNA customers shouldnt have to go to Gedmatch to find out information that AncestryDNA should be providing like 23andme and FamilyTreeDNA do. this is a crusade for me now to help others like myself to get what they need to get what we need many white people with highly extended trees may be fine and dandy with these changes, but many African Americans arent many adoptees are not many estranged family members..people growing up not knowing a parent nor his/her side of the family....they are not pleased with the changes the whole privacy excuse is bullshit.......all they have to do is use a chromosome browser as an option....have people send a request to their matches to share genetic data the ancestry people dont give a damn about adoptees, estranged family members, and African Americans who tend to not know their roots. If they did, they wouldnt have practices that hinder them...like exclusion of chromosome browser and segment data people lost legitimate matches because of this so-called new improvement many african americans lost white matches that could help them discover their ancestral roots I lost critical Acadian matches on my fathers side. some of my matches are real because of the triangulation oh ...my aunt got some that I lost what does that tell you??? the so-called improvements.....they set genetic genealogy backwards many people cannot figure out their connections with the use of only family trees . to even expect that is to ignore the genealogical challenges that adoptees, estranged family members, and African Americans have! maybe ancestry needs to start hiring some adoptees, estranged family members, African Americans to do the genetic genealogy for they will have the empathy through personal experience that will motivate them to want to make changes for people like themselves AncestryDNA couples shouldnt have to go to Gedmatch to get the information that should be provided for them at AncestryDNA. 23andme and FamilyTree provides information like that. How come AncestryDNA cannot? as for the privacy issues, well...maybe people shouldnt be doing the genetic genealogical testing in the first place many people that test dont care about the privacy of DNA segment information...they want to find out their roots and make connections. Without the DNA segment information, many people cannot figure connections to their matches. you ancestry people treat people like they are stupid and ignorant you ignore what many people want and need you dont listen you think that its all hunky dory because some white people are content with losing some matches even though many african american people suffer from the changes you ancestry people do lack genealogical empathy. If you had any, you would provide things that would help and not hinder. Not providing a chromosome browser and segment information hinders people from finding out their ancestral roots. also those ethnicity estimates are useless without a chromosome browser people need to know how the ethnicity is distributed for example I know that I inherited only around 4 percent European ancestry from my African American father. Most it is on Chromosome 5 in one long segment. Thats valuable info to any ways...ancestry needs a lot work. As far as I see, they set themselves back and not forward. They are not progressing. They are regressing. They are hurting many of their customers who want genetic and genealogical ancestors. I am afraid that you people just want to make money.
