IFAW logo November 2013 Follow Us Facebook twitter Philippines Typhoon Haiyan Dear Kapil, Super Typhoon Haiyan was one of the strongest storms ever to hit land. It blasted the Philippines with winds up to 380 kph and sent giant walls of ocean water crashing into buildings and flooding down streets. Many animals are suffering from the effects of the storm. Companion animals were separated from their families, and wildlife was injured by the chaotic winds. Thats why I am in the Philippines right now, along with other members of IFAWs Disaster Response team. We brought rescue equipment with us and have met with Filipino animal officials, including the Acting Director of the Bureau of Animal Industry. We are working with our local partners to rescue and protect companion animals and wildlife affected by the typhoon. Animals battered by the Typhoon Haiyans historic winds and rains desperately need medical attention and food. You can help rescue the typhoons animal victims. Many animals are hungry and injured. By supporting IFAWs Disaster Response Team, you will help give them the care they need. Ill be sure to keep you up-to-date about the animals that you and I are saving. Thank you.
