back from home after my trip to Kentville to see my surgeon, Dr. Howatt, yesterday. Came home a bit discouraged. Still do not really have any answers. He did order swabs to be done to see exactly where the infection is and to make sure the antibiotics Dr. Shaffelburg put me on are the right ones. He should have the results by the end of the week and then I will here from him about what the next step is. If antibiotics are the right ones, will continue them and if not a change until the infection is gone. Once the infection is gone; it is back to the OR and he will have to clean out the top part of the incision again and then stitch it up again hope it works this time. No one knows what else to do for it. He does not understand whay it will not heal and why i have such a hard time. Said it is not just being diabetic. He said they have to make sure the infection is not and does not go deep into the knee because then the replacement would have to come out. So, it is just to wait and hear from him and see what happens next. Could be another trip up again in the next week or so.
