And in the UK common ppl used mutts as entertainment because thats what they had, and society deemed mutts as a less valued species, and if they were mutts odds are the genetics were much different than a modern pitbull, but the generic term applies. But in the united states their origins revolved around protection, admired for their loyalty. These dogs have been Americans best friends from the beginning of the US, and now a society theyve served, has turned its back on them.
