He picked out Buharis errors and magnified them out of propotion. How can Soyinka make mess of the repatriation of Umaru Dikko than for mischief? How did Soyinka criticise Obasanjo? he refused to criticise Obasanjo until when Bola Ige was killed. Let some one disprove me here because I was watching out for his criticisms then. How dare Soyinka use wicked words to discuss Idiagbon - the only true leader we have had in our country? It is pure insincerity. Soyinka is not without his own mistakes; are we to crucify him for the formation of the first university cultists in Nigeria? So shall he understand that people make mistakes. What is important is peoples intention and not honest mistakes. I put it to Soyinka that Idiagbon and Buhari was honest in trying to solve Nigerias problem in 1984. I want Soyinka to say something about the outstanding work Buhari did in PTF or his past activities as Ministers. Why is Soyinka being smart by half? I respect Soyinka most importantly for his pricipled position during the war. I am begining to suspect that his motivation may not be unconnected with the fact that the ideology that instigated the first coup by Nzeogwu and Ifeanjuna was cultivated at University of Ibadan by the Likes of Soyinka and co. I suspect his stand may be a solidarity for people that shared same ideology and for pure justice. How else can I explain his press release on why he was absent during Achebes burial despite the several invitations sent to him? How can explain that he said nothing tangible than literary nonesense. naijapundit/news/why-i-was- absent-from-achebe-s-funeral-by-soyinka That Buhari completely disregarded the rule of law = exaggeration? Is there mush wrong with Buhari killing convicted Drug pushers with a retrospective law? Yes, it was wrong but is not as wrong as the lootings and killings under Obasanjo. Let us remember Bola Ige, Harry Marshal and so many others that were killed under obasanjo. let think of what happened at Odi and Zaki Ibaim under civlian regime. Let think about the confusion called Boko Haram in the North. Is any of these comparable to the killing of two drug pushers? What exactly is your point Mr? How are all these things you mentioned relevant to what Soyinka has said in this write up? Did you read OPs post at all? He came up with this partly because Buhari still has plans to rule the same nation in which he exercised horrible absolutist policies, ripped innocent civilians of their freedom, and yet DID NOT APOLOGIZE nor show any regret for his detestable actions at all. I dont see why you have a problem with this... Idiagbon is liable to criticisms too because he walked hand-in-hand with Buhari when all the atrocities mentioned were commited. Soyinka never said Buhari didnt do some good things. We just cant turn a blind eye to the horror the Nigerian citizenry went through in the hands of that tribalist/sectionalist and power-hungry religious-fanatic of a man called Buhari. He is a very wicked and heartless man and shouldnt rule Nigeria again.Shikena There are many people from the north who would make better presidential candidates; people who would do far better than this over-rated man. 5 Likes Re: The Crimes Of Buhari - Wole Soyinkaby nokingasgod:4:45pmOnJul 02,2013 HolyHolla: Many more, I tell you. But Nigerians forget too quickly. Only those whose oxen are gored remember long enough. Ask the many people who were whipped on the streets of Lagos in the name of War Against Indiscipline and ask how many were so treated in the North, despite their constant Jihads and criminal riots and demonstrations in which many southerners perished. True talk Brother. I remember every bit of it all. THe fear of KAI officers is the beginning of wisdom. I also remember many of the politicians that were incastrated and never survived the trauma, Ambrose Alli of Bendel, Bisi Onabanjo of Ogun etc. I remember that of the drug peddlers as well. The decree was backdated so as to make scapegoats out of them. THe atrocities were monumental and these paved the way for the Devils Alternative, Babangidas coup. I remember Nigerians heaved a sigh of relief at the overthrow of Buhari/Idiagbon. The reforms no doubt were long over due and necessary but the modus operandi, the spirit and philosophy behind them were corrupt, so, wrong and ungodly. There must be human face to any form of meaningful reforms if it were to succeed and this was lacking in the Buhari reforms. Get a copy of Fela Anikulapo Kutis Beast of no Nation and right from the albums sleeve to the lyrics, you will learn more about the fraud called Buhari/Idiagbons regime . 1 Like Re: The Crimes Of Buhari - Wole Soyinkaby PDPvsAPC:4:57pmOnJul 02,2013 How come EkoOLEIle, Garri the last,Gbawe, dayokanu, dasola etc have not made any comment on this thread? The issue here is about the misdeeds of Buhari as a Head of State in times past and rule of thumb says to limit your comments to the subject matter without deviation. Soyinka only reminded us of the records of Buhari and I cannot see how he He picked out Buharis errors and magnified them out of proportion.. He cited vivid examples to support his assertions and you can only puncture his argument by deflating the evidences he provided and not by imposing your opinionated ideas of how and what a critique should be. One moment you admitted it was wrong to apply retroactive law, the next moment you changed your mind and said it was not as wrong as haba, Bros, what is wrong is wrong. A spade is a SPADE! A leader or group of leaders cannot be said to have honest intentions when their actions and words are oppressive, draconian, suppressive, and most importantly, anti-people. That Soyinka was being biased and will not comment on Obasanjo, that he was part of the mastermind of the manifesto and ideology of the 5 Majors and that Buhari performed outstanding feat at the PTF especially in view of his being the Federal Commissioner of Petroleum when N27BILLION was missing, all these are laughable and so, NO COMMENT! 2 Likes Re: The Crimes Of Buhari - Wole Soyinkaby abduldope(m):5:26pmOnJul 02,2013 toh nw oL this ur graMMer na oNLy u de undastnd wetin u de tlk na...Mtchwwwww Re: The Crimes Of Buhari - Wole Soyinkaby abacus(m):5:29pmOnJul 02,2013 All I know is Wole Soyinka don collect money. I will rather listen to TAM DAVID WEST. Former Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Professor Tam David-West, has attributed lack of focus and strong will to the crises facing President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. He said since the president’s assumption to office, he had failed to show Nigerians he has the necessary qualities and wherewithal to lead the nation in the face of security challenges and other problems confronting the country. Featuring on a live interactive programme tagged “Guest of the Month” on the radio service of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC), Prof David-West observed that the president lacks the acumen to lead a country like Nigeria. According to him, “I don’t support people on the basis of sentiments and I don’t allow sentiments to determine my actions. I only support people who have good qualities. President Jonathan lacks the qualities of a good leader and that is why I always criticise him.” Comparing Jonathan and the former head of state and presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) during the 2011 election, General Muhammadu Buhari, David-West said Buhari possesses better qualities than Jonathan. He stated, “If my father were to contest for an election with General Buhari, I would tell him not to waste his time and I would not support him. I would prefer Buhari to my father. So, I prefer Buhari to Jonathan, the same wayI prefer Chief Obafemi Awolowo to Buhariand any other present political leader in the country.” David West continued, “There is no way any individual can compare Jonathan with Buhari. They are two different individuals with different ideologies and beliefs. Buhari is one leader that is discipline and highly responsible. He is a faithful person and a down to earth man to the core. He believes in fairness and equity. So, Buhari is far better than Jonathan”. 3 Likes Re: The Crimes Of Buhari - Wole Soyinkaby omenka(m):5:32pmOnJul 02,2013 This man is begining to sound like a badly configured base guitar. Can he tell us the number of lives that were ruined by those three drug pushers that were executed?? He said both local and international civil societies were united in the condemnation of the death sentence passed on the pushers,,,, well, what do u expect, for them to applaud the sentence? There were people, some civil organizations, that subtly protested the manner in which Osama was killed, sayin he was killed without fair trial!! Same man that was responsible for the death of thousands!! Did he fairly try his victims before killing them? Buhari might have had his flaws and goofs while in office, but the execution of those guys isnt one of them. Besides, the world over, military admins rule by decrees. In a democratic setting, things are done a bit diferently Oga Wole. Be mindful of the things you say sir. Dont make urself unpopular in ur wee hours just like ur just departed coleague. 2 Likes Re: The Crimes Of Buhari - Wole Soyinkaby Ojujusarando(m):5:35pmOnJul 02,2013
