climate negotiations going really well ... apart from no agreement on: mitigation commitments; finance commitments; any agreement on loss & damage due to climate change (compensation from Nth to Sth); how to transfer technology or provide LDCs access to intellectual property rights; silence on improving existing market mechanisms let alone establishment of new markets; agreeing to final rules of procedure for this treaty (little known fact that its been operating under draft rules of procedures since 1994!); common rules of accounting (to determine assigned amounts and/or guage equivalence of different abatement efforts); weakening commitment to ratification of Kyoto Protocol 2nd commitment period; impacts of response measures ... its just gone 730pm on 2nd last day and it feels that we were closer to concluding things Monday last week (at the beginning) ... thankfully the rest of the world is at such peace and good shape - humans huh!
