(I ended up not using it but the April 2014 New Era is all about youth and the priesthood) -Started by showing Elevate Learning - this is an amazing clip (attached below) -Then I thanked the kids for a lot of things, conquering the mattress and getting to seminary, taking the assessment without too much complaining, for keeping the bar high, for being trustworthy, for being amazing enough to be saved for the latter days and a few other things that pertain specifically to our class. -I then showed Sanctify Yourselves (link in sidebar of lesson 86) and told them to keep in mind all the things I just mentioned. -Had a discussion about being ready and how Elder Holland said Lightening WILL strike and raising the bar high (they didnt know where this term came from - so we talked about the track and field event high jump) -Read D&C 84:23 and talked about what it means to be sanctified (pretty much followed the lesson manual here.) -Discussed the Oath and Covenant of the priesthood. Carlos E. Asay gave a fantastic talk (called The Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood) where he lists what is involved with this covenant. (also a good time to review #scripturemastery #dandc82:10) -Ended with this quote from Elder Asays talk -- My brethren, we are the sons of God. He has endowed us with his power, and he has called each of us to serve missions in a place called mortality. Our missions mean very much to him, and they should mean everything to us. In this mortal life, we are to prove ourselves worthy of his love and worthy of the inheritance he has offered. - I told them that I trusted them 100% that they will make good and righteous decisions and I expect them to succeed, and so does the Lord. https://youtube/watch?v=GRwu4FMbOw8
