day 5: generosity. that has got to be my word for today. I had to leave for work early this morning. felt better because I knew Jaime had a full day and was gonna be busy. from the minute I hit the highway north my phone started ringing. more offers for help, more support, more prayer, more whats your address, and one you better not be speeding. I got two more calls today from folks who had relatives go thru what Jaime is going thru now. offering support, and first hand experience. people who had just heard from a friend of a friend. yet they took the time to call. as were going thru this, its occurring to me more and more that while so many that know J and love her, theres an equal amount that just want to be a part of something good. it simply feels good to help. I love that that is the silver lining on all this. this has become a way for folks to inject some positivity into their day, and if thats one of the reasons were going thru this, then Im ok with that. its that positivity thats driving Jaime thru this. she had quite the active day. went thru several shock treatments. got to see her hands open and close and got to see her left leg move from the nerve reactions. very positive signs. she did lots of exercises on the PT floor and each time she got rave reviews from her nurse. after being told to stop, she always did a few more. the staff is doing a great job of keeping her spirits up thru her exercises. shes still telling me shes not quite ready for visitors yet, but shes close. she just wants to be able to sit up on her own for a little longer than she can now. itll feel more normal and make her feel better to be able to have a regular conversation without laying down or being in a brace. so for those of you asking, just give her a few more days or so. when I got back here tonite after work, I walked in with a few more cards we received in the mail. she says, I totally got you beat, and shows me the stack of cards the nurses had been receiving for her. one of them said when walking in, so this is the #CarnucciStrong room Ive been hearing about !. ever the competitor, I had to tell her that I totally got even that beat. and showed her the gift that Tracey Cronin Bolduc and her family made. a C and an S carved from wood, covered in inspirational quotes, with a wonderful note from them on the back. I havent even read her any of the cards or todays fb posts and shes crying already. way to go Tracey. so Ive got my work cut out for me tonite trying to find room to hang all this love, but we wouldnt have it any other way. thanks for taking the time. #CarnucciStrong
