#day32 of #100daysofcinema Dead Poets Society (1989) by Peter Weir I had often shunned this movie aside due to its somber impression on me from its poster. It was only on a whim that I decided to give it a watch and I am so glad I did. Watching this on a sudden impulse made it more of an enjoyable watch since I wasnt expecting it to be so good. This film now means a lot to me because it invoked in me a love for poetry. It gave me a different perspective on poems and now it has become a part of my life. I plug in the film every time I want to feel inspired. Starring Robin Williams as a lovable English teacher with a unique style of teaching, the film is set at an elite prep school in the late 50s-early 60s. Robin Williams is an amazing comedic actor, no doubt, but when he picks up roles apart from comedy...oh damn. The talent in him cant help but shine. Take Good Will Hunting and Insomnia for example. It also has a young Ethan Hawk. Definitely give this one a watch on a rainy day when you are at home and want to watch a nice warm hearty film. Especially watch it if you love literature. But dont be fooled. When the film needs to get serious, shit goes down. Give the scene below a watch and check out Williams as the lovable John Keating. I can literally pick any scene from the movie to sell it, it is that good.
