diana did the mathing: Downstate Illinois where housing is far, far cheaper than most other places: Illinois minimum is $8.25 x 40 x .85 (15% tax rate) x 4.3 (weeks in a month) = $1206.15. Normal percentage of pay that should go to rent is 25% (33% with utilities), so with utilities extra, max rent here is $301.54. Which gets you about 3/4 of a studio. Even at 33% it would be $398.03 max. Full studio, maybe the occasional one bedroom. But still utilities would be extra. Why arent we out in the streets in full revolution?
