die nächsten mails lesen ... Dear MichaEl, After a year of silence, Warner Bros. agreed to a meeting last Friday to discuss our concerns and accept over 400k signatures from anti-slavery activists (including you). Sadly, the meeting produced no new information. • Warner Bros. was unwilling to commit to an independent audit of the production of the Harry Potter Chocolate Frogs it sells. • They said they would be completing a “report” by the end of the year -- which crucially, may not be made public. • When asked why they couldnt commit to make the report public, they said they were unsure what the report would uncover and therefore were unwilling to publicly announce the findings. • Finally, when asked why they couldn’t provide the report conducted in 2011 which they have said previously leaves them ‘satisfied’ that the chocolates are free of slavery, they had no answer. We’re disappointed but unwavering in our commitment. And we want to decide on the next steps together. What do you think we should do? 1. CLICK TO VOTE “YES”. Call on Warner Bros. to deliver their planned report publicly by 1 September 2014. The largest cocoa harvesting season in the Ivory Coast begins in October so it’s urgent that Warner Bros. act quickly to ensure Harry Potter Chocolate Frogs have no relationship to the thousands of victims of slavery who will be forced back to the fields. 2. CLICK TO VOTE “YES”. Organise a mass call in to the Universal Orlando Theme Park (where the newly expanded ‘Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be opening 8 July1) asking staff to pull the chocolates from the shelves. If enough concerned customers contact them, staff will have to relay the message to management that we’re serious about forcing them to publicly commit to fighting slavery in the cocoa industry. As a community of over 7 million people (of which at least 1,000 are shareholders of Time Warner, parent company of Warner Bros.) we’ve faced hurdles like this before. We weren’t silenced then and we won’t be silenced now. In solidarity, Kate, Debra, Amy, Mich, Alex and the Walk Free Team P.S. If you have other ideas to contribute, hit “reply” and let us know. 1. edition.cnn/2014/06/20/travel/harry-potter-diagon-alley-orlando/
