Bubbeh sent a check after I called her on the phone -- Said, “Tateleh, I’m always glad to pay!” I took out my tallis and my hand-embroidered kippah -- Stuck it on my head with bobby pins. Said “Shalom!” to Rabbi Stein, And, holding Bubbeh’s hand in mine, I davened, and repented of my sins! Yontif’s just a time for some for showing off new suits, Instead of growing old, and more serene; Growing old is better when you go back to your roots -- To that old-time custom and routine -- Growing old like me and my Bubbeh Levine!
