during my primary days, there were days we would wake up at around 3am before our parents, go to the farm and work till 6am then wash our legs and go to school, during my secondary school, i would carry my box on the head plus a bag on my back and some shopping in a paperbag in my hands, my father would be walking ahead of me with just a folder in his hands with maybe a half of the school fees in the pockets, on sundays, we kids would be expected to get to sunday school class by 8am therefore we would leave home earlier than the parents, during meal times, we would not dare touch food before all the elders in the house have started eating, we were to be the last, when it came to special occasions and times when visitors would come around, we would not dare sit on a seat, they were reserved for the elders, all children were supposed to sit down on the floor hehehe....and i remember one fellow here when he was taken to a bus for the first time by his mother, the fellow sat on the floor of the bus to the shock of everybody yet there were several empty seats in the bus, when asked he said that seats were meant for elder people only.....ok, fast forward chururururururu............................2013, this days, the parent wakes up at 3am to start preparing everything while the child still sleeps then wake him/her at 6am to serve her with breakfast and beg her/him to go to school and even bribe him/her with some mandazi or money, for the secondary school, you will find a father or mother carrying the students box and bag and other stuff walking him/her to school while the kid would follow reluctantly with a lollipop in his/her mouth, during meal times, the parents put everybody else on hold including visitors so as to serve the kids first, when it comes to courtesy, if visitors walked into the house and kids are seated on the seats, they will stand and wait as alternative sitting space is sought, when it is sunday, the parents would prepare, get ready, then start begging kids to come out of the house else they get late for mass........................and am here struggling to compare this two cases and just wonder where to fall, is it the old style or the current style.................
