#etihadairways ..NEVER again! Heres a horror story that would make you think twice. We booked tickets on #etihadairways leaving Cairo at 3am on January 3rd to Abu Dhabi then Kuala lumpur then Denpasar. We arrived at the airport to find out that the first flight was delayed, by four hours, screwing all our connections. The delay was out of their hands honestly speaking because of bad weather in Abu Dhabi, but what was disastrous is how they handled this. Their staff in Cairo couldnt care less, in fact they were giggling and smoking on-duty when they should have been busting their b?&**s to help us. Finally the manager, who seemed to be the only one working, gave us the great news: He re-routed us: we would go to Istanbul, and from there take Malaysian Airways to Kuala. So we go to the airport hotel, barely sleep for 3 hours, head back to aport and take the 10am flight to Istanbul. By the time we arrived it had already been 12 hours since our journey begun. Anyways...we headed to the counter & found out that wed been CONNED to go to Istanbul because not all our tickets were confirmed & the flight was way overbooked. So they basically sent us off to Istanbul to take a hike. Our luggage was offloaded and about 3 hrs later, someone from #etihadairways shows up...a bit surprised we seemed angry. Mind you at that point our journey had reached 14 hours, we asked for someone to show up repeatedly and had loooong long-distance calls with their Abu Dhabi headquarters. It then takes them about 3 hours to figure out what to do with us. They booked us on tomorrows flight to Singapore at 1pm....however they were not sure they could put us up at the hotel (thats like 20 hrs till flight time). It took them another hr to catch on to this & finally put us up in the airport. So, if everything goes as planned, our trip would have taken FIFTY hrs in a best case scenario, as opposed to an original 16...more than triple...funny thing is theyre still not sure theyd compensate our non-refundable hotel booking of which wed lost 2 nights, and theyre also not sure they can change our return dates without a penalty fee :) #etihadairways is a joke.
