everyday i strive to live with the consciousness of blessed freedom i take for granted. everyday i am able to choose what i do including how i perceive the world, how i love & cherish my fellow people, and most importantly, how i educate myself. without these essential choices, i would not be able to choose my beliefs, my values, my actions & my thoughts. everyday i choose how to respect my people, i choose how to empathize with them, and i choose how to not fear, but to love them with things like kindness. goodness. fairness. without this, i would be compromising the nature of what it is to be human, perhaps the most basic yet most terrifying right when taken away or never given to begin with. it is in this advanced society that we must remind ourselves & others of the continuous gift of life but demand it when our freedoms are subsidized, our dignity silenced. i cannot anticipate more the millions & millions of humans about to see 12 Years a Slave. there is extraordinary cinema being made right now but none that has placed me in a state of such profound grief. never will i be ignorant to any form of slavery amongst my world of people, any compromise of human freedom. i wish no ignorance upon any one.
