finally dusted off Grandma Becks wonderful recipe for rugelach yesterday. We loved making (and eating!) these little pastry-like cookies ever since Beck gave us a demonstration of the ins and outs of their preparation sometime in the late 1970s. We pretty much gave them up, though, once we had kids. Theres a lot of what my mother would call potschke-ing around with yeast, butter, meringue, cinnamon sugar, and rolling pins in their production, and we didnt have enough time or energy to go through all that when we had both time sheets and lunch boxes to fill. Getting that family picture from Cousin Laurel, and looking around for another dessert to make, succeeded in reviving the tradition. Thanks, Grandma!
