finally home from Waltham. Simon was very cooperative so she got to see models of all of his sounds and word approximations. Shes 99% sure that he has a fairly severe case of Apraxia but says its still a little to early to officially diagnose. In the mean time he will continue to be treated as if he has the diagnosis as he already has been. She is referring him to the Augmentive Communication Clinic to help with setting him up with the best picture voice output device and help me with developing his PECS book. Her report will also stress the importance of his speech therapists participating in using these forms of communication as they have been resistant to so far. She will recommend as many speech sessions a week as possible but I think we may be maxed out with insurance at 3 between the clinic and EI. I guess it went as well as it could, now to just see how cooperative his current team is in following her recommendations...
