(from net) APS-C or Full frame - what differences are there (besides cost)? Slightly better image quality, mainly in low light. In daylight, it can be hard to tell the difference. But the biggest difference is in depth of field. For a given aperture, the depth of field is noticeably less on a full frame camera. That means backgrounds (and foregrounds) can be more easily blurred. Thats a very useful property, a way of separating subject and ground. To achieve the same effect on a crop sensor camera you need to use a faster lens, not always possible. Were gradually getting back to what was standard with film, though I suspect full frame will remain mostly for enthusiasts, not because of cost so much as size and weight. Sensors keep getting better so even small cameras will soon have very good low light performance. Enthusiasts who love controlling focus will buy full frame and the rest of us will continue to use smaller formats.
