from yesterday but never posted it so here it is..i would have chuck back in a minute at least we would have some1 that defends our club///churchy Charles Green Wants Rangers Return Posted on July 21, 2013 by billmcmurdo I can reveal that Charles Green wants to return to Rangers and finish the job he started. Scotching rumours that a recent shares transaction was him off loading shares, he reminded me that he is not in a position to sell until December. Big Chuck also revealed in a phone conversation that he would be happy to rejoin the Ibrox board, perhaps in a Vice-Chairman or Deputy Chairman role. Green said: “I have 5 million shares and have not let go of 1.5 million over the past few days. The shares sold were by an investor who is not happy with the way things have gone.” Green keeps himself informed about matters RFC and is aware of Chairman Walter Smith’s recent pronouncements about not being fully confident of his ability to do the job long-term. I was again reminded by CG that he always wanted Walter in the Chair and said that he felt bad he hasn’t been around lately to help him. “Walter has done a great job keeping things on course,” Green told me. “I always knew his steadiness was what Rangers needed. I note that Walter has said he is looking to step down at some point but I am willing to come in as Deputy Chairman to help.” One matter that has baffled Rangers fans is why the blunt-talking Yorkshireman left when he did, rather than stick around to front the situation when he was falsely accused by Craig Whyte. “I took advice from trusted friends at the time and felt it would be better if I was off the scene,” Green told me. “I’m still not sure if I did the right thing but one thing I learned in my time at Rangers is the club comes first. No-one is bigger than Rangers.” Green is very aware that some have used his absence to try and sour his stewardship by painting him out to be a fast buck merchant with no interest in the Rangers. “I know what people have been saying about me but it’s par for the course. I signed up for flak when I decided to get involved with Rangers in the first place,” he said. When asked if he had a message for bluenoses, Green said this:” I would love to be involved at Rangers again. The club got under my skin and when I say I caught Rangersitis I wasn’t talking bull. If I do get back in any capacity there will be no doubting I have the best interests of Rangers at heart.” Green is conscious that some fans feel his time with the club has come to an end but he also knows that many want him back. He revealed to me that he would love to finish some of the projects he started and prove his doubters wrong. Responding to claims he was guilty of hyping things up, he said: “The thing you have to understand is when we took over at Ibrox we immediately realised we had one of the biggest teams in the world in our hands. Everything I did at Rangers was with that in mind. So when I am selling Rangers to investors and commercial partners, I’m going to talk in terms of potential. That’s what I do; I’m a salesman.” From my point of view I have no problem with someone hyping up the Rangers. And I do know that Green did have solid support from top English clubs with reference to Rangers playing down south. For political reasons those clubs could only at this stage offer this in private. My feeling is that if Charles Green does come back there are a few scores he will feel he has to settle. Having said that, he is keenly aware that the club needs stability after the recent boardroom wars. As Green knows only too well, it’s great to be able to kick ass. The trick is in knowing whose ass to kick. And when the time for kicking ass is over. “Rangers fans know I will stick up for the club and for them,” Green told me. “But there’s more to me than that.” I know Big Chuck is desperate to get the opportunity to show this and contribute more to the Rangers cause. We’ll have to wait and see if he gets that opportunity.
