gardening friends sometimes share their germination failures with us, and there are a few common stories. 1) I soaked the tiny seeds overnight and planted them and nothing happened. answer: small seeds do not need to be soaked (which makes them really difficult to plant properly!), they need to be barely buried in the soil, tamped well and watered gently and evenly. trust that they will imbibe water. they will. 2) I planted in peat pots and nothing happened. answer: peat pots work allright for some species but are acidic and sterile. better to use live potting soil that contains a balance of bacteria and fungi that assist germination (presence of GA3). 3) I tried planting the seeds in a lot of different places and none of them came up. answer: insufficient number of seeds per planting--the packet is designed to be planted all at once in a pot, a flat or a row, not barely eeched out in a lot of different places. 4) I was sure from the start that these seeds wouldnt work. answer: have faith and you will be amazed at the miracles that shine forth!
