had to admit that the Detroit Symphony sounded fantastic at Historic [100 years old] Pease Auditorium on the campus of Eastern Michigan University. However, following an incredible rendition of Prokofievs Romeo and Juliet Suite #b, the lady conductor proceeded to acknowledge the horns, the flute, the clarinet, the viola, the trumpets, the bass clarinet, the bassoon, etc. But at no time did she acknowledge the tenor saxophone player! Truly, saxophone discrimination yet lives in the halls of concert music. Thats ok, though, because the sax man probably left the concert and headed for a jazz gig somewhere and played his guts out to an admiring crowd. Bet none of them violins did that!!!!
