have five birthdays to celebrate today. First, the worlds greatest drummer songwriter-musician Buddy Rich (1917). He began playing drums professionally at 18 months old and was a big band leader at age 11. An amazing talent who has influenced every drummer since including our second birthday boy singer-musician Dewey Martin (1942) best known as drummer for The Buffalo Springfield. While playing with BS he also played many of Mickey Dolenzs drum parts on The Monkees recordings. Third up is singer-songwriter Frankie Lymon (1942) who with The Teenagers had a huge hit with Why Do Fools Fall in Love at age 14. Next is singer Sylvia Peterson (1946) best known as one of The Chiffons with hits like Hes So Fine, One Fine Day and singing the lead vocal on Why Am I So Shy, Strange, Strange Feeling, The Real Thing, Up On The Bridge and My Block. And last but not least singer Marilyn McCoo (1943) best known as lead singer in The 5th Dimension. Huge hits in the 60s include: Up, Up and Away, Stoned Soul Picnic, Wedding Bell Blues, One Less Bell to Answer and the generational anthem Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In.
