The Iberian nation has climbed into the top five of the rankings, thanks to CR7s hat-trick heroics against Sweden earlier this month. Apart from Switzerland ranked eight and Brazil 10, Fifa’s top 10 actually looks more or less appropriate for what seems like the first time ages. Spain remain top dogs despite their shock defeat to South Africa, with Germany and Argentina rounding off a daunting top three. Cote d’Ivoire remain Africa’s top ranked team in 17th place. The Elephants are followed by their fellow Brazil 2014 qualifiers Ghana (24) and Algeria (26), Nigeria (36). Egypt (38), Mali (42), Tunisia (49) are the next best ranked African nations. Cameroon, who also qualified for the World Cup, only come in at 51. South Africa stay where they were last time around, ranked 61 in the world, sandwiched between Slovakia and Israel. Fifa Top 10: 1.
