Looking at 15 years ago, we have bookworms and scholars working with iron rice bowls and very well fed with no incentive to do anything other than to follow orders. Somewhere back then we’re suddenly shaken up by the fact our growth is stagnant and population, then they decided it’s better to open the flood gate for people for the sake of GDP. As islander living in Singapore,a small space, many have no concept of what’s the world out there. Talents abroad who were invited to join the Singapore using the same yardstick came with degrees, masters, PHD but naturally from 3rd world universities. A few were wooed with super high pay in GLC or local university from Havard, Stanford with iron-rice bowl contract and then advertised as examples in News paper. These people we hired in turn sing and praise the G and the Singapore model. Lured by high pay and receptive Government, many outside wanted join the ranks of those people they know who are already here with good job and high pay, we are exposed to many scams (a good example are those illegal immigrants ever finding ways to sneak into Singapore from JB) and they use dodgy degree and qualifications, kick-back and all kinds of dirty trick for their tribes already entrenched in this establishment. With the help of insider (already in Singapore MNC, GLCs), they managed to squeeze Singaporean out of job and replacing with their own kind. It’s up to your guess what’s going to happen next..
