hey Bay Area friends ... when I was first writing poems, I read the work of Dean Young. I did not know anything about him, because it was before the internet existed, at least for anyone not in the Defense Department. So all I knew were the poems and a few facts on the back of the book. I loved his poems Immediately, whoever he was. Much later I met him and realized he was not only a great poet but a lovely person. I feel lucky to have him as a friend. And Im so glad to say this Thursday I will be reading with him in Berkeley at Mrs. Dalloways, hes up from Austin, TX.
