Libby Update Well, I now know why she has not been coming around as well as she should have....apparently she is dealing with chronic liver failure... I had the vet pull blood when she was here to work on the little guys teeth and this is what it showed. Now things are starting to make some sense. It could be that she was dealing with that before she was dumped at the kill pen . It affects protein metabolism and perhaps they threw food at her because she was unable to gain enough weight which in turn caused the bad founder..... Shes has always been fairly stable. Has been eating fine and seemed happy, but she never looked like she was thriving enough, although she never really started to lose a lot of weight either....it too remained pretty stable...... All this does not sound very promising....Per the vet, there does not seem to be much hope to turn this around.........:-( thehorse/articles/27708/liver-failure-in-horses
