hits the nail on the head. I for sure used to be squeamish about the idea of God and religion. The truth is in interpretation. Its just as easy to fall pray to religious propaganda as it is to fall pray to thinking the world is fundamentally purposeless. It prevents us from living the lives we are meant to live. Whatever we mean by God, it certainly exists. Anyways, the idea of purpose as a fundamental thing needs to be more culturally central. In Bboying, Purpose = Create You, Do You.Purpose or individual contribution is what allows bboying culture to expand internally. By pursuing our individual styles, we create a space where we inspire each other. Biting is bad because you arent contributing. If everyone bites then nobody contributes. But then again you can be inspired by someone elses move as long as you make it your own. You make your individual contribution.(Biting vs Originality in context of game theory is really cool) In a subtler sense, thats what we need to do collectively. Everyone makes their individual contributions. Like a cell functioning as part of a greater whole, we have our contribution to fulfill our purpose. Do what you FEEL you should do, make your contribution. What happens when a group of cells forgets its purpose? It grows indefinitely, destroying the very body it needs to survive in a phenomenon known as cancer. What is it we are doing in the rest of our culture? What is it we are doing to our planet!? ... Treating the world and ourselves as fundamentally purposeless --> big-picture cancer phenomenon.
