https://surveymonkey/s/HSGH7H9 My name is Gemma Jackson, I am currently undertaking BSc(HONS) Equine Science at Hartpury College (UWE). I would like to invite you to take part in a research study looking at owner perception of Stable Enrichment. The questionnaire should not take more than 10 minutes to complete. In this study I will be investigating owner perceptions of stable enrichment. Whether owners value stable enrichment or find it does not benefit their horse/horses. Specifically looking at whether there are differences between horse owners who have stereotypic horses (horses that display crib biting, box walking, weaving or wind sucking) and horse owners who have none stereotypic horses. Also considering whether experience and qualifications enhance knowledge of stable enrichment. The only risk participants may feel they are exposed to is judgement. However it is the general knowledge of participants that my research is trying to establish and no participant should feel like they will be judged on their level of knowledge. The benefits of participating include encouraging promotion of stable enrichment devices, highlighting areas for improvement within the equine industry and encouraging people to consider management factors for stabled horses that they may have not previously considered. Please note that all information which is collected about you during the course of the research will be kept securely with the researcher. Any information which enters the public domain will be anonymised so that you cannot be recognized from it unless you wish to be publicly acknowledged. Questionnaire data will be held but information will be coded for anonymity. The results will be presented as my dissertation and a paper and electronic copy will be kept at Hartpury College; additionally I aim to publish the research in an appropriate journal. It is up to you to decide whether or not to take part in this research. By filling out this questionnaire this is indicating your voluntary informed consent to participating in the research and also granting consent for the data obtained from this to be used and analysed over the course of the research study. If you decide to take part you are still free to withdraw without giving a reason up to the 19th February 2015, at this point the data collected will be processed and analysed.
