https://youtube/watch?v=BO1255sX6r0 Cops pull guy over to try to buy this 1974 LTD i love these cars mainly because my dad had at least 5 of these in his West Texas oil bussiness days, my dad had this exact car a 1974 Ford LTD brogham in white and black top and interiour, a big 400 2V V-8 Air Conditioning power windows and seats controlled on the door and power windows, it had the Brougham exclusive high back top of the line seats with some kinda scrolly looking stuff on everything, crusise in the steering wheel and a ford am radio with optional rear speaker on the drivers side with a little knob under the dash by the ash tray for that STEREO effect lol! and a Motorola two way radio with one of those long whip antennas to talk to his fleet of oil tanker trucks at his trucking company called Basin that he and some other guys just broke ground on that same year out on east Hyw 80 across from Wallace and a mobile phone that you had to get the mobile operator on to make a phone call and you had to hold the button down to talk! he also had the horn wired in so when the phone rang dad could hear it , often dad was out on a pipeline job or truck wreck or one time dad and i were out at the midland gun club between Midland and Odessa Texas shooting trap or clay pigeons all the sudden dads LTD gets a call on the mobile phone and it starts honking blowing the concentration for everybody! I was just 11 years old but i remember that like it was last week, i really miss my father sometimes, we never spent a lot of time together when i was a kid cause he worked so hard and sacrificed so much to give us an amazing lifestyle, he worked months straight 7 days a week often only getting one weekend off a month, meaning he literally spent more time in the LTDs than he did with his own family but i do remember going to work with him on saterday mornings at Basin, he gave me my first real job, and usually it was sweeping the shop floor or cleaning the nasty drivers shack or shop bathroom or cleanning the offices or washing all the company cars which were yep you guessed it Ford LTDs like this one, these cars were dead reliable and really took amazing punishment driving down those lease roads in all kinds of weather which can change in 2 hours out there often they got so dirty you didnt know which car was yours sitting in front of the shop lol! and those men took those cars places only a 4x4 pickup probably should have gone, dad drove 50,000 miles a year so about every 2 years he got a new one, these cars today with thier plastic bumpers unibody construction no real bumpersand front wheel drive and sensitive electronics and airbags that probably would deploy on some of those washboard Coliche roads would fall apart, they shue dont build tanks like that anymore......
