https://youtube/watch?v=ZSQ3GAx0xeY&feature=youtu.be Along with several other Alderman, I introduced an ordinance that passed by City Council to reinstate Sunday Parking Meters on many commercial streets throughout the City. In 2013, Mayor Emanuel renegotiated the parking meter deal between LAZ Parking and the City of Chicago. One of the terms of that new agreement was to trade a longer paid parking day in some areas for free parking on Sundays. This change has had a detrimental impact on the businesses within our ward. I did not support this change and have been urged by our local chambers of commerce to bring back Sunday Parking Enforcement. Sundays are one of the busiest days for businesses in our neighborhood. Local stores and restaurants rely on parking turnover to serve their customers and free parking on Sundays has caused major parking issues on our commercial streets.
