As a community organizer he founded organizations, initiated and led innovative cultural and social programs for low-income children and youth, small businesses, community policing, arts and culture. Its time for fresh new energy at city hall, time to restore the qualities that bring us together, allow all of us to flourish and realize our potential. Build on the Good • Support new aquatic centre in St. Jamestown • Protect Riverdale Farm from any budget cuts • Support plans for new co-ops in Regent Park • Support affordable housing pilot project in East Bayfront • Move forward with CHFT and city staff on solutions to keep federal operating agreements for co-ops • Keep and expand free recreation programs • Bring new parks to Corktown Common ahead of development • Bring new recreation facilities to West Don Lands • Move forward with Waterfront and City Economic Plan Fix what is not Working • Get back to all citizens on a timely basis and keep them informed • Push Toronto Community Housing to repair existing housing • Help those suffering from mental health and addiction problems • Enforce existing laws and work with police and agencies as partners to stop drug dealers from ruining some of our best neighbourhoods • Prevent displacement of Regent Park residents during the transition • Change the culture at City Hall, treat each other with civility, operate in an open, transparent professional manner, stay focused, follow process and give citizens a voice and not just the high paid lobbyists Move us Forward • Make sure everyone is included as we move forward together • Support and cooperate with council to implement our transit plans • Improve and expand dedicated bicycle lanes and pedestrian connections • Implement plan to create jobs and paid internships especially for youth • Help small business and high tech start-ups by keeping their taxes low so they can create jobs • Work with resident groups, non-profits and volunteers to implement their exciting and innovative plans to improve the community • Bring the parade back to the Cabbagetown Festival of the Arts • Ensure cultural groups within Ward 28 are included in Pan Am Games and that our local businesses and citizens benefit
