https://youtube/watch?v=lCp-VrzqsB4 I try to tell anybody wholl listen...who cares...about the incredibly bad, immoral state that hip-hop is in, and the effect its having on kids. As a kid, I grew up with hip hop and loved it, and over the past 15 years its taken a horrible turn. We went from Kanye West (the College Dropout Kanye...not Kimye) & Outkast, to Rick Ross & Chief Keef. From guys rapping about betterment and love to overtly glamorizing the drug trade and murder. Whats worse is that nobody is willing to take these rappers to task for what theyre spewing. Check out the song below. Its called Dont Shoot and its a song in response to what happened in Ferguson. Nearly EVERY rapper in this song has made his living off of promoting guns, violence, crime, the drug trade and misogyny. It doesnt take a genius to see the hypocrisy. It also doesnt take a genius (but some would argue) to see the correlation between the destructive lifestyles these rockstars are promoting and the incredibly high crime & homicide rates among black youths. But I guess people are in denial...or unwilling to hold their favorite artists accountable. I used to love hip-hop more than anybody youd meet, and theres still hope with guys like Kendrick Lamar out there, but Ive been pushed away as a fan. If these artists really cared about saving young black lives, maybe theyd collaborate on a song against themselves.
