https://youtube/watch?v=lgCZN1rU5co My 150 Favourite Songs of All Time, Number 100, Gangsters – The Specials, 1979 The Specials are one of those very rare bands that never released a dude single in the short couple of years they were around, all their 45 releases reached the top ten and they went out with a bang reaching number one with “Ghost Town” Gangsters was their first single and reached number 6 in 1979, it took me years to discover what the first Neville Staples line was on the song, it is “ Bernie Rhodes knows Don’t Argue” who was the Specials manager for a while along with more famously the Clash, the song is a reworking of Prince Busters “Al Capone” and is about a bust up the band had while on tour in France, it was with a hotel after a room was trashed by another band.
