In Instinct your dog only has to pick the correct tube with the rat where all three tubes are in plain site. The dog is not required to climb on hay or go thru the tunnel. In Novice your dog needs to find one hidden rat, climb on a bale of hay/straw, and go through an open tunnel with a clear view of the other end. In Open, your dog will need to locate two hidden rats, climb on hay and go through a tunnel where the other end is not in view.
