https://youtube/watch?v=vvPB2JMQKFc Some BPD overlaps with NPD but is rarely diagnosed. Hence the split you see in the comments between the partners of benign BPD and those of malignant BPD which is comorbid with NPD. If you try to placate and validate someone whose borderline is comorbid with narcissism you are throwing fuel on an open fire and will suffer. The first thing you should do is establish if you are dealing with a BPD with narcissism. There are several red flags for NPD (like total lack of empathy). If you are then this is a problem! This is a good video, if you are talking about pure BPD. The people dating/married to pure BPD need to know when they are arguing with and attacking the lack of compassion of those with NPD+BPD in the comments that they are having a totally different lived experience. Those with NPD+BPD are the victims of a kind of abuse that will, over time, emotionally dysregulate them in turn, NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO and they will also develop borderline traits. My speciality is helping people who dated NPD+BPD and I can tell you they end up like the victims of extremely violent trauma. Twitchy, tense, adrenalised, depressed, jumping at shadows and with a very damaged sense of self. Pure borderlines shouldnt be a problem in a relationship. Just reassure them, be steady, dont respond to their provocations when they have emotional flashbacks, point out emotional flashbacks in a non shaming way, keep perspective, keep them doing the mindfulness practice (do it with them), talk about their triggers with them in a compassionate way and you are creating a constant emotional environment in which they can emotionally re-regulate. Emotional re-regulation is the cure. BPD can be cured. Marsha Linehans peer reviewed scientific research has proved that. NPD, so far, has no known cure.
