i had the great pleasure to meet Jason Martin, and love reading his book, I do recommend it to all who wish to know more about the Ayahuasca way... A great review on Amazone Voluptua is a brilliant work, July 3, 2013 By julian robinson This review is from: Voluptua: A Novel (Hardcover) As I began to read Jason Martins Voluptua, I immediately realized that I had unconsciously embarked upon a journey that resonated with the brilliance, insight and enlightenment that I have not felt since reading the works of Carlos Casteneda in the late 1960s and 1970s. Martin touches on some of the emptiness and unfulfilled moments of worshiping the false religion of material and academia as defined by the contemporary values of social climbing and career advancement. Yet he does this in a often humourous and non-judgemental manner that offends no one, while taking his characters and the reader along the journey of self realization toward wholistic consciousness and enlightnement. The character of Ellen educates readers as she travels the path of Ayahuasca, exploring, learning and is eventually molded by the philosophy, mythology and effects of the plant. We learn that Ayahuasca serves as a means to an end, not as the end in itself. Ellens experiences become more fantastic, more amazing, more transforming as she slowly becomes a practicing shaman, traveling through alternate dimensions and battling inner demons while becoming more whole in each step. The related Ayahuasca experiences do not in any way compare to magic and sorcery you might find in pagan, christian, or any mythology, nor does the way of Ayahuasca resemble in any way the ideals of any of the worlds religions. How can you describe things most people have never seen or experienced before? Jason Martin does an incredible job of melding worlds and universes of knowledge via Voluptua into an experience of self-discovery leading to transformation. After reading Voluptua, I am left questioning many things for the first time in over 40 years, and challenging to meet Voluptua face to face.
