i read a HS book, the spiritual interview from Umeko Tuda, and this books title is For Women Pursuing Their Dream. About Umeko Tuda:(1864~1929) Educator, She devoted her life to the education of women in Meiji period. When she was 6 years old, she went to USA as a first Japanese international student. and when she was 17 years old, she came back to Japan, but for make a her wish, she went to USA again to study at Bryn Mawr Collage. In 1900, she founded Joshi Eigaku Juku ( current Tsuda Juku College). This is a part of one. Questioner asks her, Now we, Happy Science is going to build a u-ni, too. So please give us some advice. and she answers, The starting point is a passion for learning, I think so. and I clearly knew enough about that knowledge is power, or after all, we can do nothing without knowledge, and we cant build a civilization without knowledge. or if we have an academic knowledge, we can make people and we can educate people, or it can be reproduced thats meaning is the person who learned it become a teacher and they can make new person... There is not the reason like that, having money, or having ground, or having building, or having lots of people who can speak English , or get such a people. At first, it is necessary to have a feeling to want to do it. .. In Meiji period, Japanese women didt have the original right to vote. In such a time, I went to USA , and that was a revolution. And my father was doing interpretation and my household environment was Western-Style living. It was a big factor for me. I had a various environment factor, but , after all, it is necessary to do the laws of cause and effect that is sow a seed, and bring up it, and reap it,I feel so, it was a big point. If I had not been gone and studied in USA, Tsuda-Juku u-ni would not build, I think so, and it was a big point that I could see a future of Japanese women like this, If they introduced Western thoughts, they could change their mind, and could be active. .. after all, it is important to take a chance tightly that you think it is a chance, and to have a courage to challenge to do it. ..and If you thought that, I do challenge., you have a half of ability to do it, I think so. and after that, you have preparedness to stick with it.However, after all, if you dont have a courage that bear solitude and strive to self profound study, you can accomplish nothing, I feel so. When I had been studied abroad, I had a big culture shock, so I think it was very difference between go or not in abroad. ..thats meaning , it enlarge width of possibility to learn intercultural something and learn advanced something, I think so...I went to USA as a student when I was 6 years old, after that it was continuation of shock, shock, shock. And I was surprised...In USA, women was already going to be active at that time, and it was truth that there were excellent women and they could work very well. .. During my stay in USA as a student for 11 years, I didnt remember when I thought that I want to be a teacher, but i had a dream that, I want to be a woman who can spread a English education in Japan, and stand up to shoulder education mainly on English. .. I had a strong sense of mission about Japanese womens future... I wanted to teach that very much, women have a possibility, and education make people, and It is not difference between a man and a woman in this point that education make people.. I think that the best of an advantage of women who has a high academic background is that can cooperate with her husband who make a great success, as a good adviser or a strategist in a home. .. Seeing at the spiritual point that you are searching now, on a way of reincarnation, people have a various experience about gender. .. It is difficult that How does a gap in men and women express leaving room for freedom. So I think if there become strong of suppression to women much more, a movement that try to break through it would be strong. In a case of like me as try to found a girls school or a womens college, I had a very strong will that send a highly intellectual women all around the world who have a good characteristic as the woman, too. ..and in this case, of course they not only make a great success, but also be a excellent mother and wife. ..Todays Japanese English education was late a little, I feel so, thats why, there was conceited about their success in 1980s...It is necessary always to keep on learning, because it is important to have a cultural stimulus , so you must do it. Particularly now, there have to know that there have a rival, because an international student of Korea, China,Taiwan and Africa are studying very hard and they are making very good advances.Their aim is that catch up with and pass Japanese prosperity, and they will try to prove that humans original ability is equality. I think so... Japan became a big country and it is a part of good point , too, but it is other side of Japan that is going to return to isolationism of One pacifism. So, after all, how can i say, challenging mind or chance to try courage.. well, I think there is going to drop off gradually, because there dont try to touch to a different culture, I think so.If an advanced nation lack something as a teacher, you should go some area or countries which a Japanese does not go very much and studies their culture. It is necessary to study it all around the world, I think so. Questioner asks her, Please teach us your spiritual role. and she answers, In my spirit of the root, I feel that I have something like a missionary. I feel a will that open up a something new and convey it to people. .. then , of course,I had been born in area of Western countries, and my past life is a christian sister, and my over past life is one of Japanese nun who was a first government official, I feel so. I was one of nun who entered the first Buddhist priesthood. And I am tour my past life more, well, I was born in around Xi-yu that was between India and China, and I was concerned some translation at there. And I am tour my past life more, I was born in India and I had worked at the age of Buddhism. ... And at last, from Master Okawas Afterwords of this book ,It is interested in research in a great women, and it will be a precious things to make a plan of future society. ..There is no royal road to learning language and there is no genius of language study. But it is sure that language is one of magic to make your wish, I think so.
