i was thinking about these lyrics to an older aaron sprinkle song called useless while staring at this picture.... the chorus sings: and the little boy i used to be, he had a conscience you could see. and he held it in his hand, he did not understand, that he would soon be me. part of life is dying... to good and bad things, and to stolen things. wounds, both self inflicted and those cut by others. i dont ever want to derail though, you know? and we can, each of us, spin off the tracks, wreck, and get stuck. ive sat in some of those spots before. i dont suppose to know his meaning behind the lyrics, but i think maybe sprinkle, like me, had witnessed some conscience decay. part of that is a healthy part of growing up but part of it is a trap. but in those moments, when proof and weight are in the air, im convinced the battle is really serious. i also know there is a way through in Christ. time and weight have proven that to my soul as well. liberty was, and is the goal. its a grand story. when the chorus is repeated the final time, sprinkle ends the song with; he did not understand, that he would soon be free.
