#iomemories Many of my LA friends have no idea I studied at #IO so many years ago. It was one of the first acting classes I took. Ill chime in on a memory or two since we are all saying goodbye to the space so many of us knew. I walked into #IOChicago , interned at the front door and took my level one class. Eventually like many of us at that time I got to level 5 with #DelClose and even got to be in about 4 shows he directed. One was called a Short, Strange Trip. There were many people I met just because I was there. I worked with #DavidShepard on improv for film (if you know David, you truly know your Chicago Improv history. He is highly responsible for Improv Olympic existing). I also friended Barbara Harris. Barbara, was in a strange place at that time, living in a hotel room off of Sheridan and having a difficult time with reality. Barbara was a comedy genius who was in the very beginnings of The Second City when it started. Im talking- starting up this thing days ago. I was on a team and I met & hooked up with Paul Vato, Keith Privett & Ramon Charriez. We started the first All Latino Improv troupe in Chicago & we all met at Improv Olympic on Clark. My first team was coach was the awesome Bob Kulhan. i remember Bob teaching me to really commit to being a solider in a particular scene. He was so giving, awesome and supportive. I got a job at night during the harold shows waitressing. I met many great friends, teachers in surrounding areas. I did some shows at the awesome Annoyance Theatre too and got taught by a couple other geniuses over at Second City, Martin de Maat & Jeff Richard, but it all started walking into IO an signing up for Improv Class.Thank you #Chicago #IO for the memories, training and friends I still have today! bye, bye.
