it really gets me when people advertise aged ponies for alot of money why buy a 20 something year old at 3 grand when you can buy something half that age thats just as safe? at the end of the day buying at that age and price means you will never get that money back even through insurance if something went wrong. Am i just weird in thinking while a old pony is just as good if not even better at times for some people they just arent worth much money? I would never sell a aged pony for silly money at the end of the day id rather the buyer put that money into keeping the pony fit and well in old age and a good retirement! I tend to look at young ponies when buying and the value is if i school or do something with him/her can i at least get my money back should i sell it on, then yes its money well spent and the pony is worth the money asked, With a older pony its money you will never see again if you couldnt keep the pony, not to mention a older pony can cost much more to keep. I really dont think that while horses can gain in value as they grow up and then become a school master (if the do) there is a cut off where the value starts to do down and in my mind thats when the next buyer wouldnt get there money back after the use they want from the horse and also at 16 insurance companies will become a issue too.
