just listened to the 911 call from wildcat haven. shaking. but the comments on the page frustrate me so much. they say the cats arent afraid of humans and thats why they cant be released, wouldnt it be easy to make them afraid of humans? its their fault for not releasing them back into the wild....for one, if they grew up with humans, you can just beat them until they are afraid...it doesnt work that way and no one who truly cares about these animals would do that anyway. Also, they wouldnt survive in the wild anyway...prime example: over the summer, at Black Pine Animal Sanctuary, we gave the cougars their dinner inside cardboard boxes. Meira and Joey got their food, not very quickly. But Johnny seriously could not figure out that his food was in the box. He could smell it...he could have easily gotten it...but he couldnt. We had to open the box for him. So you really think an animal who cant find his meat in a cardboard box an inch from his face can just be released and be expected to hunt and skin his own meat?! No. He would go up to a human, expecting to be given food like he always had been, and something bad would happen.
