laith-the-arab skriver: Ill chime in, Ive been to Allenby crossing one too many times and it isnt a pleasant place. Let me describe ones journey; You wake up at 4-8 AM so you can make the drive to the border, this drive includes multiple checkpoints and various other obstacles. You get there and its hot, very hot. There is no AC and you are herded onto an overcrowded bus to get to the Israeli side of the border. The Israeli side takes apx 3-6 hours of simply standing. The sick and elderly are forced to stand without access to AC, water, or chairs. The passport control workers are not friendly at all, as they always take their time, flirt with each other, swear at us, and do anything to agitate us. I learned this the hard way this summer, as I Got into what was a simple argument which quickly escalated to me being tackled with guns pointed at me. While they spoke English, they refused to speak English to me, and barked at me in broken Arabic that Id be shot instantly if I tried to resist. This whole argument started at the security line where they check us for contraband, when one of the men who works there thought it would be a nice idea to slap my moms ass. I obviously yelled at the guy in English as he has no authority to do that at all, and was met with a harsh resistance. I was held in a room with no lights, no AC, no water for 8 hours, when I was finally let out. I forgot to mention that when they threw me in that room, I was punched in the face, given no medical treatment, I was cuffed and had a bag over my head.
